Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Kaiut Yoga Method was created by Francisco Kaiut, a Brazilian chiropractor, massage therapist and yoga teacher. He experienced a traumatic hip injury as a child, and the Method was born out of his experience navigating life with chronic pain.

While the Kaiut Yoga Method incorporates many traditional Hatha yoga poses, they have been distilled down to their simplest form, ensuring that anyone can find a version of the pose that works for their body. In Kaiut Yoga, the focus is not on working out or stretching muscles. Instead, it’s about calming the nervous system while unlocking restrictions in the joints. To achieve this we move slowly, often with eyes closed, and use props and gravity to assist us in the work.

  • While we always advise that you consult your doctor if you have any concerns, the short answer is yes, this style of yoga is perfectly safe. All of the poses in the Method can be modified to meet you where you’re at. Many of our students come to us seeking relief from low back, hip and knee pain. Some students are dealing with the effects of surgeries, strokes, or other big health events, and they often find relief in the practice.

  • Our online classes are a great way to experience the Kaut Yoga Method from the comfort of your own home. In order to practice most effectively, you’ll need a yoga mat, some open space at a wall, a yoga strap or belt, and a bolster or other large, firm pillow. From time to time we also use blocks, and a thick, hardback book can be a great substitute.

  • All of our online classes are offered via the Zoom platform. You don’t need an account to take a class. Once you register you’ll receive a link for the class and all you have to do is click it to enter. We do ask that you turn your camera on for the duration of the class so we can see you to offer guidance and adjustments.
